Built by Thomas White in 1841, White House displays a fine collection of 17th and 18th century oak furniture, china, icons, paintings, prints, pewter and copper. The outbuildings house early bicycles, horse drawn vehicles, vintage cars and a special display of toys and miniature furnishings. Refreshments are available from a restored bakery with a wood fired oven.Approximately 250 items in the house, plus 20 vehicles, 15 bicycles and a large toy collection in outbuildings. The Hamilton Heritage Centre is a small, local interest museum consisting of photographs and artefacts of the area. It is located in the Old Warder's Cottage, which was part of the convict probation station at Hamilton. It consists of a two-roomed cottage with displays, church records, farm and household items and photocopy facilities.Photographs 1870's to 1950's showing rural life and vista of Hamilton. The Museum is in the main Cathedral building which houses many items of interest. It is self contained within the Cloisters of the Cathedral. In static and changing displays, the Museum exhibits material relating to the Anglican Church in Tasmania from 1804 to the present.

In this local history interpretation centre, an excellent collection of early photographs of the region are displayed with relevant objects, including wooden interactive models relating to mining. Fifteen historical monographs have been published and are for sale. Port Arthur Historic Site is the pre-eminent symbol and most outstanding example of Australia's convict system.

Port Arthur exerted great cultural influence within Tasmania and throughout Australia as the focal point of a large-scale penal and industrial enterprise which encompassed the entire Tasman Peninsula and Southern Tasmania.

In its peak Port Arthur was the second largest penal system settlement in Australia and was often referred to as 'hell on earth'.

The Society is devoted to re-opening the scenic and historic Derwent Valley railway for steam and diesel. It provides diesel-electric hauled day excursions to National Park as well as occasional trips to other destinations on the Tasmanian railway network. The Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts is one of the State Library of Tasmania's heritage collections. It contains a collection of 18th and 19th century furniture, colonial paintings, silver and objets d'art, fine china and rare and antique books. Australia's oldest existing colonial gaol in original preservation offers the only surviving example of female solitary confinement cells in Tasmania and an extensive collection of convict relics. It includes men's solitary confinement cells, chain gang holding rooms, a flogging yard, privy, female cells and gaoler's house. This collection is currently being developed by a committee of volunteers who have been collecting any items related to the operations of the fire service and fire protection both of an historical and modern nature. Currently the museum is a collection only. Its aim is to preserve fire service equipment and memorabilia. The Channel Historical and Folk Museum has displays of items, memorabilia and information relating to the history and lifestyle of the D'Entre casteaux channel area from Margate south to Gordon. The Forest and Heritage Centre tells the story of the timber industry in Geeveston with displays of old photographs, tools and equipment to explanations of the modern day timber industry accessed on computer terminals within the forest room. It shows people and places on the west coast of Tasmania, with an extensive display on the mount Lyell diaster, which claimed 42 lives. The Maritime Museum of Tasmania is housed in Hobart's old Carnegie Library Building. It is appropriately sited diagonally opposite Constitution Dock, that welcome haven for yachts competing in the annual Sydney-Hobart yacht race. The Museum is largely run by volunteers.

The museum is presently housed in the attic rooms of AMA House, a Georgian building erected in early 1850s. The collection reflects medical practice in Tasmanian from the late 1800s to the present, and complements other medical collections in Tasmania.
