This local history collection includes a growing photographic collection of local World War I and World War II veterans. A shed added in 1995 houses farming machinery and tools of local interest.600 items plus photographs. Artifacts used by locals - trinkets, glassware, clothing, lamps, school work etc. Machinery shed with agricultural implements used in the "horse and buggy" days e.g. a furphy header, reaper and binder, wagon, separator, spring cart, single farrow plough etc.
The former Bairnsdale College (1891) contains a display on farming machinery, a bark roof log cabin, a country community hall/school and historic domestic items. Photographic and archival material relating to the history of East Gippsland is stored at the Resource Centre. The museum is accredited under the Victorian Museum Accreditation Program. It operates the original Ballarat Vintage Tramway system within the Botanical Gardens Reserve. Its aims are to conserve, display and maintain the various tramway artifacts in order to create a living reminder of Ballarat's past. The collection consists of 16 trams, some of which operate over 1.31km of track along Wendouree Parade. The Museum in John St Pakenham shares a common foyer with the Pakenham Library and houses books, paintings, plans, photos, clothes, old household objects, histories and council memorabilia.2000 items, many photographs. Built in 1905 as a general merchant's store and attached residence, the Museum now houses the L.L. Pitts photographs and items from local organisations, general interest and farming objects.. The Museum is dedicated to conserving and displaying items relating to the local history of the Borough of Queenscliffe since 1838. The Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale is located at the Port of Sale Civic Centre, home to the gallery since 1995. The gallery consists of three major exhibition spaces and features a small, but significant permanent collection. The gallery hosts several key State and National touring exhibitions each year.
