Verna Doak
Made from crocheted rounds with raised centre, using left-over wool. Centre is a flat circle of clusters of treble stitch. Padding is a piece of blanket. Backing is blue cotton fabric. Centre not in good repair. Colours mainly yellow, red, blue, green, pink, white and black.

Hand sewn quilt of cotton materials constructed of 12 rows down by 12 rows across of squares with various appliqué motifs of hearts, circles, leaf sprigs, stars, fans and geometric patterns. The quilt centre has a large rectangle with an appliqué vase of flowers in a cream oval. The border consists of large triangles of alternating blue and red prints with a single green leaf appliquéd in each triangle. The backing is cream linen joined from 4 pieces, embroidered at the top in blue linen thread is: 'Sarah Evans 1806'.

Hand stitched quilt constructed entirely from hexagons formed into rosettes or 'flowers'. 7 hexagons to each flower and 440 flowers in the quilt. The material used is mostly upholstery pieces. There is no padding and the backing is pale green cotton. Cardboard templates were used.

Cotton quilt machine pieced from 64mm squares in blues, aqua and white, arranged in a straight furrows set. Machine quilted on the seam lines. The padding is cotton and the backing is cotton poplin. Bias binding has been used on the edges.

Machine pieced patchwork quilt with the top of squares of tailors' samples joined in rows. The backing is almost entiurely squares of machine knitted jumper samples and clothing pieces. The padding appears to be dark green woollen material.

Centre of hexagon pieces edged with braid and surrounded by 3 borders of old coating materials. The hexagons and the borders are all wool. There is herringbone stitch on the edge of the rayon backing. The padding is an old cream blanket.

The Pioneer Women's Hut
Cot quilt constructed of rectangles of orange, red and yellow striped material and ruched yellow taffeta. It is pieced so the stripes follow alternate directions. The top, bottom and sides are long strips of the same material. The pattern is repeated on the back. The edge is bound in ruched taffeta. The padding is a thick material.

Patchwork quilt made of rectangles of twill cotton and worsted woollen fabrics, from work trousers. Colours are greys, light and dark brown, and black watch tartan in dark green and blue. Narrow border of floral print. No padding. Backing is cotton, a white background with 1950s print of rectangles of stylised foliage in red, blue and yellow. Top and bottom border of bright blue fabric.

Quilt made of hexagons of Chinese silk brocades in different designs and colourways. The seams of the hexagons have been overstitched in black thread in herringbone stitch. There is a wool padding and a backing of silk.

All cotton top and backing. Machine construction. Patches, mainly rectangles, joined in strips and then the strips joined to form the top. The back is a similar construction but larger pieces. The padding is made from lots of hand and machine knitted woollen pieces, including jumpers. Black check binding. It is very heavy. It is not quilted. It is not used. The owner calls it a Wagga.

The quilt is constructed from 64 x 35mm rectangles of printed cottons possibly samples as there are several colourways of some patterns. The pieces have been sewn together in rows and then the rows joined. There is no padding and the backing is khaki desoutti.

Patchwork quilt made from squares of wool and cotton fabrics, from dressing gown material, skirts, and corduroy. Machine sewn onto a cotton counterpane woven in stripes of red, blue, black on white. Colours of fabrics are red, blue, yellow, white and grey, with a dark grey check. Sewn on a treadle sewing machine.

Hand stitched Grandmother's Flower Garden cotton quilt constructed from a wide variety of materials. The centre of each hexagon is a flower. On the outer edge there is a bobble fringe sewn on to a 25mm red strip. There is an inner border of a brown floral trail of hexagons. The background is white cotton.

Patchwork quilt made from brightly coloured printed cotton fabrics in hexagon patches hand sewn together in rosettes, and stitched by machine onto a border of red fabric. Fabric scraps for the patchwork were donated from friends. No padding. Backing is white cotton curtain lining.

Silk quilt in tumbling block pattern. Central panel of blocks arranged a different way. Backing is paisley cotton brought to the top and bound in place with 3 cm wide silk ribbon.

Patchwork quilt made from octagon and square patches in bright and pastel colours in a mixture of prints, in cotton fabrics, including satin cotton, slub cotton, seersucker and mixed dress fabrics. Backing is a printed cotton flannelette blanket. All seams are covered with perfect, even, white crochet cotton embroidery in feather stitch, including along both sides of border pieced of rectangles. Hand and machine sewn.
