Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale

The Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale is located at the Port of Sale Civic Centre, home to the gallery since 1995. The gallery consists of three major exhibition spaces and features a small, but significant permanent collection. The gallery hosts several key State and National touring exhibitions each year. The permanent collection includes paintings and works on paper by artists of the Gippsland region and in particular works that use landscape and the environment as a reference. Local craft is also well represented in the collection. All works in our permanent collection are in storage, unless periodically displayed. Any individuals or school groups must arrange a booking with Gallery staff to view the storage facilities.

Collection: 
Over 650 items including works by artists of the Gippsland region along with works that use landscape and the environment as a reference with particular emphasis on Gippsland. The collection consists of mainly paintings and works on paper. There is some representation of local craft and increasing national representation.

Last custom built cup for the Melbourne Cup

On loan from the Widdis family of Sale. The Widdis family won the cup with 'Patrobas' trained at Hambrek near Rosedale, Gippsland.
