Local History
The museum is a collection of historical and contemporary photographs and written material showing the work of the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS). There are also various exhibits such as radios (including pedal radio), medical equipment and aviation instruments. A former RFDS Queenair aircraft is on display and is a highlight of the museum. A film "A Day in the Life of the Flying Doctor" is also shown half hourly.Estimated 200 items
Historical railway artefacts, housed in Bundaberg's original station building, surrounding by other historical railway building and rolling stock. Large collection of items used by railway staff in past days, photos, plans and drawings, rule books, driving manuals, appendix and daily work books as used in years gone by. The museum features extensive local history collections, a large photographic collection depicting the history of Noosa Shire and a display of Aboriginal artefacts. The museum occupies the original shire council chambers built in 1910, and is situated in an historic timber town.
This historic building (built in 1890) was the home of Henry Plantagenet and Katherine Rose Somerset. Henry was a member of Parliament from 1904-1920. Caboonbah is now the headquarters of the Brisbane Valley Historical Society Inc, and the complex consists of seven buildings: Caboonbah Homestead, Cement Building, Caretakers Cottage (private), the original Worker's Cottage, McGrath Cottage, Police Station and Cell Block. A telemetric service was provided from Caboonbah after the 1893 floods and is still on site and in use.600 collections
The Central Queensland Collection contains a wide range of materials relating to the Central Queensland area, which includes the area north to Sarina, south to Miriam Vale and west to the border. The powerstation, opened in 1921, is one of the few big country power generating stations which is virtually intact and has the fist coal-fired gas producer used in the Australian electricity industry. It was sited next to the artesian bore because of the requirement for water to cool the engines. The first units were Ruston and Hornsby gas engines powering DC equipment. The Cooktown Museum is a museum of maritime history with a focus on Cape York/Torres Strait Islands and the surrounding regions. The museum's collection is a tribute to seafaring men who brought civilisation to the Far North. Greycliffe is a wooden slab-construction 6-room homestead, originally constructed in the 1870s. This building is the main focus of the historical society's activities, as it houses a collection of furniture, utensils, photographs, documents and machinery that pertain to the history of the Callide Valley. Tours of Greycliffe are available by appointment. Built in the 1890's Carbethon was moved from Haden to Crow's Nest and opened as a folk museum in 1979. Innisfail museum is housed in the old School of Arts building and occupies two rooms. The collection relates to local history and contains items from all facets of life from the early settlement of Geraldton (name later changed to Innisfail after confusion with Geraldton in Western Australia).
