The Royal Geographical Society of South Australia is located in the State Library of South Australia on North Terrace, Adelaide. Founded in 1885 to further the exploration of South Australia, today the society's emphasis is on the natural and cultural environment. It promotes this through monthly lectures, excursions and interpretation of the modified and natural landscape, not only in South Australia, but of Australia and the wider world. A specialised collection relating to exploration in the South Pacific. The building constructed in 1954 with some 26,000 hand made bricks brought from the convict kiln at Variety Bay, North Bruny Island. The Channel Historical and Folk Museum has displays of items, memorabilia and information relating to the history and lifestyle of the D'Entre casteaux channel area from Margate south to Gordon. The Museum is owned and managed by members of the D'Entre casteaux community and most of the items have been donated or loaned by past and present residents. The Maritime Museum of Tasmania is housed in Hobart's old Carnegie Library Building. It is appropriately sited diagonally opposite Constitution Dock, that welcome haven for yachts competing in the annual Sydney-Hobart yacht race. The Museum is largely run by volunteers.

The site is situated very near to the first British settlement of Tasmania at Disdon Cove (1803). Our Museum consists of a house and various out buildings located on two town blocks in Port Welshpool. The collection is spread over the whole area. Our strong point is the early fishing industry in Corner Inlet, including a daily diary kept by the Smith family from 1887-1958. The Kyneton Museum collection is housed in a group of buildings, the most substantial of which was built in 1856 from local bluestone for the infant Bank of New South Wales. The branch was opened to service miners of the region's goldfields. This museum is a branch of the Western Australian Museum. It's colonial, modern and recycled buildings have spectacular views. The collection highlights dioramas of natural history, maritime, whaling, social history, exploration and aboriginal interactions. Onslow Museum is housed in The Old Goods Shed which was transported over by Camel Train from the Old Town of Onslow in 1925. As it is an Historical Building it has been classified by the National Trust. The Museum is housed in the Old Police Station, Prison and Courthouse complex. The building was erected in 1870, with extensions being completed in 1873. The original building comprised a court room, police station, cell block and living quarters, and was built from locally-quarried limestone; the walls are some 450mm thick, constructed in the coarse random rubble style. The roof, which was originally wooden shingle, has been replaced by corrugated iron. A sample of the original shingles is displayed in the exhibition.
