The Winton and District Historical Society have operated the Qantilda Museum since 1972. The members of the society are volunteers who donate their time to help educate people about the pioneers who built the outback. During the 28 year existence of the historical society a huge collection of outback memorabilia and artworks have been accumulated, documented and set out in such a way as to educate people on the livelihood of the aboriginal inhabitants and, the livelihood of the districts settlers and their descendants. The aim of the Museum of Australian Army Flying is to acquire, restore, maintain and display aircraft, equipment, material and documents relating to Australian Army flying since its inception in 1912. Importance is also placed on preservation of the history of No. 6 Airport Depot RAAF, the original military unit located at Oakey Airfield. It contains memorabilia of John Flynn, the Australian Inland Mission etc. The Fred McKay Art Gallery houses major works including prize winners from the Ernst Henry Memorial Art Show. The Queensland Air Museum is a non-profit volunteer run society, occupying a two hectare site on the Caloundra airport, The collection consists of aircraft, uniforms, memorabilia, archives and a collection of photographs. The museum currently has 25 aircraft it its collection ranging from a hang-glider to a DC-3, and includes examples of civil and military aircraft of the post war period. The museum's De Havilland Sea Vixen and Gloster Meteor TT20 are the only examples of their type in Australia.

The museum is a collection of historical and contemporary photographs and written material showing the work of the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS). There are also various exhibits such as radios (including pedal radio), medical equipment and aviation instruments. A former RFDS Queenair aircraft is on display and is a highlight of the museum. The powerstation, opened in 1921, is one of the few big country power generating stations which is virtually intact and has the fist coal-fired gas producer used in the Australian electricity industry. It was sited next to the artesian bore because of the requirement for water to cool the engines. The first units were Ruston and Hornsby gas engines powering DC equipment. Hope Cottage is one of three built in 1857 by the Calnan family, later to become known as Faith, Hope and Charity.
