Angaston

Angaston is a small town in the north east part of the Barossa Valley, approximately 80 kilometres north east of Adelaide. The surrounding rural regions, typical of the valley, produce grapes, stone fruit and vegetables. The town contains wineries, a fruit canning factory and a cement works.

Barossa

The Barossa Valley is in the Mount Lofty Ranges and is one of Australia's major wine producing regions. Between 1847 and 1851 three large vineyards were established: by Gramp at Orland, Smith at Yalumba, and S"eppelt at Seppeltsfield. These were not the first grape growers in the valley, but the large wineries they established encouraged rapid development of grape growing.

The descendants of many of the early German families still live in the area and the annual Barossa Vintage Festival retains a distinctly German flavour.

Goolwa

The River Port of Goolwa is situated on the mouth of the River Murray, between the river and the Southern Ocean. The Coorong National Park, beautiful freshwater lakes, and heritage architecture, are features of this area.

At one stage, over 250 paddle steamers and barges used the river port, and Goolwa was a boat building centre. More recently, Goolwa has become a tourist destination.
